The TBR; Part Six

A row of books behind the title

It’s been less than a week since The TBR; Part Five was posted, but as that one was a round-up, here’s a goals post!

I’ve been acquiring books these past few weeks and stubbornly waiting until I got home to start them. Now I’m home, I can make a start on my Summer 2019 TBR. I’m sure I’ll add books to it over the next few months. It’s ambitious, but that’s me after all.

Remaining Books from other TBRs:

I have a few books I still haven’t read from earlier this year, but not many luckily. They’re simply being chucked into the TBR jar with the rest. I decided not to make a special allowance for these, even if they’ve been languishing for longer.

  • MUSE OF NIGHTMARES, by Laini Taylor
  • The Shades of Magic series (A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC, A GATHERING OF SHADOWS and A CONJURING OF LIGHT) by V. E. Schwab
  • An eARC of WHAT SHE FOUND IN THE WOODS, by Josephine Angelini

New Releases:

I have a fair number of new books to read, an almost even mix between YA and MG.

  • THE FANDOM RISING, by Anna Day
  • RUMBLESTAR, by Abi Elphinstone
  • WILDSPARK, by Vasti Hardy
  • THE DEVOURING GRAY, by Christine Lynn Herman
  • THE PAPER & HEARTS SOCIETY, by Lucy Powrie
  • WUNDERSMITH; THE CALLING OF MORRIGAN CROW, by Jessica Townsend
  • WOLFLIGHT, by Yaba Badoe (gifted)

Backlist Books:

Most of these books are one friends have been telling me to read for ages, and that I’ve only just got around to. So, sorry to them – but look! I’m going to read them now.

  • THE HAZEL WOOD, by Melissa Albert
  • A JIGSAW OF FIRE AND STARS, by Yaba Badoe (gifted)
  • GODSGRAVE, by Jay Kristoff
  • SPINNING SILVER, by Naomi Novik
  • THE QUEEN’S RISING, by Rebecca Ross
  • MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE, by Robin Stevens
  • AN ENCHANTMENT OF RAVENS, by Margaret Rogerson

ARCs:

Most of these are eARCs, but for the first time I’ve been sent a physical ARC, and for none other than THE DRAGON REPUBLIC! I’m so excited to dive into these books, all of which I’ve heard so much about.

  • BROKEN THRONE, by Victoria Aveyard (bought a copy since)
  • SORCERY OF THORNS, by Margaret Rogerson (bought a copy after three chapters)
  • QUEEN OF RUIN, by Tracy Banghart
  • THE DRAGON REPUBLIC, by R. F. Kuang

eBooks

For once, I actually have a collection of ebooks on my kindle. For the last year, I’ve only used my kindle for eARCs, but there has been a series of specials recently (aka free books) for books I’ve heard friends rave about. Once I’ve polished off my last few eARCs, I’m going to dive right in (supposing I don’t request more eARCs!)

  • MAGIC REMEMBERED and MAGIC RECLAIMED, by Coralie Moss
  • HEAVENWARD, by Olga Gibbs
  • THE GILDED KING, by Josie Jaffrey

Non-fiction:

I rarely do this, but for once I bought some non-fiction books, and I’m going to put them into the TBR so I actually read them. They’re highly, highly unlikely to get a review, but hopefully they’re interesting

  • THE SILK ROADS; A HISTORY OF THE WORLD, by Peter Frankopan
  • THE TIME TRAVELLER’S GUIDE TO MEDIEVAL ENGLAND, by Ian Mortimer
  • PUTTING THE SCIENCE IN FICTION, edited by Dan Kolbaldt

What books are you trying to read? Are there any surprising ones on the list?
